Webinator Release 1.2 coming soon

Post by Thunderstone »

I have a particular interest in indexing PDF documents. Could you tell
me more about the Acrobat / PDF plug-in?

It took a little longer than we expected , but the next release
should be available on Monday.

Here's the new feature list:

* URL Prefix restriction. This forces gw to stay within a specified directory.

* Plug-in filter support allows you to declare a program to pre-filter
documents by mime-type before they're passed to the index program.

* Acrobat / PDF Plug-in filter.

* Framed document support. Webinator will now parse an HTML framed document
as if it were one document. ( This makes it easier for the user to
find the correct URL entry point.)

* Increased table intelligence. The HTML parser now filters table data
with more brains and tolerance. ( Like missing </td>'s and </tr>'s )

* Increased filename extension tolerance. Uses mime + suffix data
to resolve types.

* Multiple option file support . ( Used to be only one )

* User set-able index expressions. Allows you to re-define what constitutes
a searchable "word" .

Also of worthy note:

The NT and Macintosh versions are on the bench right now, and will be
released to beta _very_ soon. The NT version is currently operational
with the Netscape HTTPD and others with compatible CGI interface layers.

Thanks,

Webinator Release 1.2 coming soon

Hi,
The enhancements to an already fine product sound great. One thing, I
must say that I was a little confused when I got my first note from the
Webinator list. Like someone else, I thought that it was someone talking
about my particular implimentation, not the general product. Perhaps the
listproc or listserv software could be used to add a code to the subject
line? (I use majordomo here, and I can put the list name in the subject
line) It helps to separate out things in my overflowing mail box.

If it isn't easy to do, no problem. I can train my self or switch over
to some mail package that filters.

Thanks again for making this product available.
