installation

Post by Thunderstone »

Does the installation (WinNT) actually hardcode some "default"
directory information into the binaries?

Is there a way to change this. Shortly after installing, we realized
we should have placed it in an entirely different path. Actually a
different machine.

Since the machine we really want Webinator installed on is remote and
therefore difficult to run a GUI install, is there a way to install
the program without using the GUI?

I also need to know now is some more specifics on the licensing
agreement. Specifically:

If we install Webinator Commercial on our current server (Netscape
Enterprise on NT) and wish to move to Apache on Unix, would there be
any further charge for either the main binaries or the plug-ins?

Also, is the license per machine or per web site?

The default database is placed into the binaries and the search script.
Ideally, you would install into the same paths as on the destination machine.
Then you can copy everything over and have it work as is.
But you could use the binaries installed into different paths by always
specifying the database. You would also need to edit the search script to
change the database path. See the comments in the script.

You would have to purchase a Unix version.

Per machine.
