license check

Post by Thunderstone »

I've downloaded the free webinator to test out how it works. We're thinking
of buying the commercial version because we need pdf searching capabilities.
Whenever I try to run gw from the command prompt, I get the following error:

000 connect: WSAEHOSTUNREAC - host is unreachable

I'm trying to index a directory on our intranet, which is behind a fire
wall. Is there a problem with webinator trying to validate its license?
I've downloaded webinator on my local WinNT machine, not on the server. I
wasn't sure what information to give the software while I ran the set-up
program.

Thanks for your help.

Free Webinator must be run on a machine with access to the internet so
that it may contact our license server at ls.thunderstone.com port 80.
Commercial Webinator does not have that restriction.

We are wanting to test the free version of Webinator as we have been told that it is a very good product and for security reasons need to know what precisely what information is being passed from the web server on port 80 to Thunderstone as the port needs to kept open. This information is critical to us for data protection and technical/security purposes.

Many thanks.
