Adding new pages

Post by Thunderstone »

I am trying to add a new page to the search engine. It is within one of the todo URL's but it is not being found.

I type the command:

gw -i -dmonmouth (which should update and find new pages if I understand correctly)

Please let me know what the problem is.

-i updates the indices AFTER a walk.
Leave off the -i to perform a walk. Then use -i to update the indices.

I left off the -i and did the following command:

gw -dmonmouth

It still did not find the new page. What am I doing wrong?

Apparently there's nothing in the todo list. The proper syntax for running
gw on a new url is:
gw -dmonmouth http://the_new_url
See: http://www.thunderstone.com/gwman/node26.html

If you are attempting to rewalk a page that has already been walked you
need to delete it first. If you are trying to rewalk your entire site
you need to wipe the existing version and rewalk or walk to a new database
and swap old and new when complete (see the messages pertaining to
"updating a database" in the webinator tech support archive at
http://index.thunderstone.com/texis/webinator/listproc/).

I have done that is there a way to just find new pages or due you have to redo the whole database each time you want to add a new link

I ran gw on the url http://www.monmouth.edu/
but I have recently added a few new links to other new pages within our web pageis there a way for it to find the new pages without me entering the new URL.

..

There is no way for a web walker to know what links you've added without
walking the entire site.

You need to specify the url(s) of the new page(s) or rewalk the entire site.
