Registration Problems

Post by Thunderstone »

Hello,

I am trying to get Webinator to work on a multi-homed server. I have the
information for the root server or I guess the Web Walking Hostname, which
my server sits on. After submitting the registration form I get the error
message below.
Error
License not approved: missing/garbled data.
I believe I checked everything else that I could find within the
documentation and your web site, if there is something I missed please direct.

Thank You
Peter Wojciechowski

A search for "missing/garbled data" in the list archive yields:

We have found recently that, besides bad firewalls and proxies, this
error can be caused by misconfigured machines doing virtual IP's.
If the machine's own idea of its host name doesn't resolve to its primary
IP address this error can occur. If you are using virtual IP's (more than one
IP number for a single machine) make sure that a lookup of the machine's
name will resolve to its primary IP number. This is the IP number that
outgoing packets are routed through and will be reported to the other end
of the connection (the license server).

The next release, due out after the holidays, will work around this problem.
