Used Lynx, got an installable version, ...

Post by Thunderstone »

Thanks to a suggestion from someone whose email I don't have anymore, I
used Lynx to download a copy of the webinator successfully. I'm getting
most of the way through the install. I had to create a virtual server that
listens to 127.0.0.1 first...

Now I'm getting to this point:

Creating initial empty database
000 connect: Connection timed out
Bad handshake
----------------------------------------------------------------
Database creation failed.
.. Press ENTER to continue ...

Now, because this server is behind a firewall (only certain ports, like 80,
are open), I suspect this is a failure to contact your licensing server.
There is a long wait before it says "000 connect..". Am I right? A
similar wait occurs if I try to run gw manually, as in
"/the/webinator/path/bin/gw -h"

Either your firewall is not passing port 80 transparently or you are
having very slow connectivity between you and us.

Can you fetch a url from the machine in question using geturl?
