HELP! The only problem we are having with our appliance right now is that when the Modified date changes on a file IN WINDOWS, the search appliance is not re-walking that file. We need this to happen, that when a file is modified and saved with the same name that the appliance will re-walk that file. Is there something that we need to set up on our file server? Is there a certain setting on the search appliance that I need to set up? I have been trying a few different ways to walk a folder. Like I said though, this is our only problem. We are not getting any use out of the appliance because of this problem.

If you look at the URL under List/Edit URLs for the file that changed what does the NextCheck date show? The file will be checked at that time, and if the file stamp is new and the contents is different it will update the record.

On the NextVisit, it shows one week ahead...the file is modified (the contents are modified) and yet it's not flagging the file to be indexed...would this be due to the fact that they are .pdf files.

The appliance can't magically know that the file is modified. I needs to visit it to find out. It's not practical to visit every page every hour on a big site. Refresh (over several cycles) tries to determine which pages change regularly and which don't change much. Frequent changers will be checked more often. Infrequent changers will be checked less often. The minimum, default, and maximum check intervals are based on your walk refresh settings. The refresh schedule determines how often the appliance will look at the database for something to revisit.

We are having a similar issue with the appliance rewalking our files. When I look at a particular URL under List/Edit URLS of a page that is updated everyday it displays this information:
Indexed: 2005-02-17 09:17:21
Modified: 2005-02-16 18:45:32
Last Visit: 2005-02-17 09:17:21
Next Visit: 2005-02-18 09:17:20
Here are our refresh settings:
Refresh Schedule is set to Hourly
Default Refresh time: 1 week
Minimum Refresh time: 1 day
Maximum Refresh time: 30 days
Maximum Process Size: Small
Is there something in the settings that we should change in order to get our pages rewalked?

Looks like it hasn't even attempted to refresh that. Check the walk status to see that the refresh walk is running and that it's running to completion.

It runs hourly and always reports that it has completed.

Is the system clock accurate? Check under maintenance->system info . If not, adjust from maintenance->webmin.

Could you show the walk status (without the error/dup listings) here?
