proximity search screw-up

Post by jkj2001 »

Hi,

We ran a proximity search incorrectly and were wondering what what the damage is.

Our accidental search was "...myfield like 'LaDainian w/12+Tomlinson'". Note how we forgot to put a space between the "12" and the plus sign. Oops.

We didn't catch this until our job was done; now we have to figure out what we've wound up with. It _appears_ we returned every record with 'LaDainian' in it, but we're not sure. Would our accidental search return any "Tomlinson" hits, and if so, under what circumstances?

Our presentation may be a little thin on details, texis settings, etc. If you need more info feel free to ask, but we've stayed close to the default texis settings, or at least haven't gone on any wild tangents. Thanks!

It should treat the search as equivalent to just LaDainian. The +Tomlinson will have been treated as part of the proximity operator, leaving the only search term LaDainian.
