Webinator installation

Post by Thunderstone »

I have installed Webinator on my server according to the directions and when
I access it I receive "SYSOBJECTS.tbl is missing" I checked the
webinator/db directory and it does exist.

Thank You,

Joel

Webinator installation

Greetings,

I downloaded Webinator for BSDI this evening and have successfully run
the install program; however, I can't get anything else to work as
expected.

Briefly, my site is configured as a virtual domain; as such, I have
access to a local cgi-bin which can hold any documents I need. Perl 4/5
are accessed on the main server and I only store various support
libraries locally.

After running the Install program, my site was modified as follows:

a. a Webinator directory was created at what I would consider my top
directory level;

b. a file called "webinator" was installed in my cgi-bin directory

Regardless of how I set my directory and file permissions, the gw program
will not run; I get a bin/ksh could not execute reply from the server.

I was very impressed with the functionality of the search engine as found
at Corbis.com; indeed, that is how I found your site in the first place.
I am working with an archivist at the National Park Service on a project
which just demands the features and performance of the Webinator as I
understand it. (Alas, not too well I'm afraid :-(

I would appreciate any assistance you can provide in debugging this
installation and initial configuration issue.

Cordially,

If you are installing the Windows version you can just hit the Cancel button,
and the install will complete. The problem sounds like the program is unable
to contact the webserver for some reason.

The install program is unable to connect to the Web Server, either due
to name server lookup or other problem. You can hit the cancel button,
and installation will proceed with the default path, which is correct
for most cases.
