Hi

Another walk that seemed to be stuck...when i clicked 'pause and live', it took more than an hour to finish.
On the walk status page i found lots of errors :

05 2006-08-07 21:02:15 /usr/local/morph3/texis/scripts/dowalk:6052: Bad size 2678546 for column Url before offset 0x3 in recid 0x0 of (temp RAM DBF) in the function pbuftofld

005 2006-08-07 21:02:15 /usr/local/morph3/texis/scripts/dowalk:6046: Bad size 2678546 for column Url before offset 0x3 in recid 0x0 of (temp RAM DBF) in the function pbuftofld.

Considering all the other strange things i have submitted (slow performance, stuck walks ...) is there a possibility that something is physically wrong with our appliance?

Could a re-install from scratch get me to a more stable situation?

Your disk isn't full is it? Check under tech support information.

Under maintenance->manage logs check the "messages" log to see if it mentions any hardware problems.

No plenty of disk space left (/ 56% used and /log 27% used)

Nothing suspect since Aug 1. During reboot i see several error messages about 'ntpd'. As my knowledge of Linux is very basic i have no idea if they are important or not :

Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: can't open key file /etc/ntp/keys^M: No such file or directory
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: configure: keyword "^M" unknown, line ignored
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: should be `authenticate yes|no'
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: configure: keyword "^M" unknown, line ignored
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: frequency initialized 0.000 from /etc/ntp/drift^M
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: configure: keyword "^M" unknown, line ignored
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane autofs: automount startup succeeded
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane last message repeated 10 times
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: configure: keyword "^M" unknown, line ignored
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: configure: keyword "ignore^M" unknown, line ignored
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: kernel time discipline status 0040
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd[669]: precision = 10 usec
Aug 8 09:39:12 saroumane ntpd: ntpd startup succeeded

Also the appliance seems to think that it has a raid array which it does not as i understand it.

Nothing hardware related there. ntp is the time syncing protocol. Apparently the config was edited and it doesn't like the result. At worst, time won't be synced with your other servers.

The raid config option is always present, but when you select it it should say no raid if there isn't one.

If you want to try wiping everything and doing a clean install reboot the appliance with the recovery CD that came with it. That will completely wipe the disk and reinstall the software to factory state. After doing that you should go in and check-for-updates to make sure you have the latest version of everything. Then recreate your profiles.

I'm ready to try, if there is a chance that it will help.

Unfortunately re-installing the appliance did not solve the problems.

Please open a ticket so we can get your settings and maybe access to your appliance.

You can't view status as such. When someone replies to the ticket it will contain a ticket number. Replying to that will keep the info in the same ticket.
