Alternate ways to upgrade?

Post by mark_thomas »

Due to firewall/security limitations where we have a couple of our search appliances, I am not able to upgrade them via the built-in web app. Is there another way for me to upgrade them to the latest software build?

If using the proxy via the web interface doesn't work for you then you can upgrade via CD-ROM. If you contact us directly we can figure out if downloading an ISO or sending a physical CD is the best option for you.

Hmm, we don't have a proxy available. I'll look into this more. Is there any way we can make the search appliance that CAN access the internet a proxy for the others?

If you're familiar with apache you could enable it on the appliance using webmin and configure it for proxying.

Can you tell me what port(s) and what IP addresses/hostnames the devices need to access? Is it an HTTPS connection? Thanks.

The appliance (or it's proxy) needs to access update.thunderstone.com on port 80 (http) to get updates.
