During Routine maintance I noticed in the log file listing it said "size 980M, 930M used.
Is there some email notification that the disk is low I can use to prevent this in the future??

There aren't any notifications. But you could monitor the space via SNMP. See Maintenance->System Wide Settings and the docs for it.
You can cleanup large logs using Maintenance->Manage logs.

The latest update should do a better job of making sure the log partition does not fill up.
