losing cnxn to license server

Post by Thunderstone »

Hi,

I just downloaded the free NT version of Webinator the other day after
reading favorable comments at searchenginewatch.com. We are evaluating
search engines and content databases for our own site,
www.demographics.com, and our parent company's, www.mediacentral.com.
Besides Webinator we are now considering PLS, Excite for Web Servers,
and Folio siteDirector.

Having some trouble getting our site indexed. After walking through
800 or so documents, with several thousand left to go, gw is exiting
with the "Can't find license server" message. Is this function timing
out?

Looking at other sites that use Webinator, I'm impressed. I
especially like the query-by-example feature, which is my favorite
thing about Excite.

I'm hoping to learn more about Vortex, and using texis for
directories and classified ad sections, of which we have several.
(Doing a search for Vortex on deja news produces a whole bunch opf
hits on a porn site.)
