webinator installation

Post by Thunderstone »

While trying to install Webinator on HPUX version 10.10 I get the
following.

Creating initial empty database
000 gethostbyname: No such file or directory

I have read the technical support messages in your on-line archive.
Hostname and nslookup return the expected values. The path for
/etc/resolv.conf hasn't changed. The permissions for /etc/hosts are
correct. What have I overlooked?

There should have been one more descriptive message line.
Without knowing what it was, there are a couple possiblities. The machine
can't lookup the address for its own name or it can't lookup external
addresses like ls.thunderstone.com .
These commands will indicate if it can or not:

nslookup `hostname`
nslookup ls.thunderstone.com

You were right about nslookup. nslookup ls.thunderstone.com fails. We are
behind a firewall. Is there any way to tell webinator on the HP to use a
proxy server?

..

Free Webinator MUST be able to contact ls.thunderstone.com on port
10003. The only way around it is to purchase commercial Webinator.
