/cgi-bin/webinator file

Post by Thunderstone »

Hello:

By (mis)chance I typed

/cgi-bin/webinator/{database name}

instead of

/cgi-bin/texis/webinator/{database name}

and still got access to the default database (db) but with

/cgi-bin/texis/webinator/{database name}/webinator

in the Location window of the browser.

I don't want this to happen; /cgi-bin/texis/webinator/ is configured for my
purposes and this skirts that.

Can I simply delete "webinator" in the cgi-bin directory or does texis
require it for some reason?

How can I prevent people from accessing the databases via webinator in
/cgi-bin?

Thank-you in advance for your help (I read _every_ post and response).

Sincerely,

Monty Kersell

"/cgi-bin/webinator" was the old, hard coded, search interface for
version 1. What it appears that you are getting is an optional
transitional script that was briefly available to redirect
/cgi-bin/webinator requests to /cgi-bin/texis/webinator/search. If you
look at it, it should be a short shell script. The new (version 2.x)
search that you are using has no requirement for it. You may delete it.
