Excluding pages

I'am having problems excluding directories and pages from my search results. I have been using the following syntax for excluding pages:
gw -xhttp://staging.madd.org/madd/victims/printable.

I have tried this after I indexed the site, with no good results. I have also wipe the database and tried again before I indexed the site. It looks like it works, however it gives me a message saying "Visited 0 pages total."

Is that a correct response indicating the action was successful?

What is the correct syntax for removing directories and all pages within that directory?

-x excludes pages during a walk. It does not delete them after a walk. You need to specify the desired -x during the walk.

gw -wipe
gw -xhttp://mysite/unwanted/ http://mysite/

You can also delete pages from the database after a walk using the instructions in the manual.
