problems running search engine

Post by Thunderstone »

Hello! Sorry to bother everyone with this, but I've searched and searched
the technical support documentation and I'm not getting any closer to a
solution. I installed the Webinator program today on my web site. The
installation and indexing parts seemed to go just fine, with the exception
of the error message "Can't get resource limit "RSS": Invalid argument"
coming up a few times. However, I can't get the Texis portion of the
package to work. I tried the suggested address
http://www.homeenergy.org/cgi-bin/texis ... tor/search, but keep
getting a "file not found" message.

My html documents are in a directory called "docs". The cgi-bin directory,
which I own, is located within docs, and the webinator directory is in docs
as well. When installing the software, I said that the web server runs
under my account as recommended in a past tech support message, but it
doesn't seem to help in this case.

Is there something really obvious that I'm failing to see? Any ideas?
Thank you in advance!

..

If your cgi-bin directory is in your docs directory, the url for it
almost certainly not http://www.homeenergy.org/cgi-bin . Texis must be
installed in a directory that the web server will run cgi's from, not just
any directory called "cgi-bin". Your website administrator can tell you where
this would be. If the cgi directory in your docs directory will allow
cgi programs, the url is more likely something like:
http://www.homeenergy.org/~youraccount/ ... tor/search

I am having the same problems. I can run /cgi-bin/webinator/ but if I run
/cgi-bin/texis/webinator/search I get a misconfiguration error. I get an
error on any variation of /cgi-bin/texis/ I run.

When I run /cgi-bin/webinator I get the following error at the top of the
page but the program is working fine.

WARNING: Can't get resource limit "RSS": Invalid argument

I see that you have registered and downloaded a SunOs version, but your
web server is running on Solaris. You should download the correct version
for your platform. SunOs binaries may run on Solaris, but not as well as
native Solaris binaries.
