Hi Webinator List,
I'm running Webinator 1.3 commercial on Solaris 2.5.
This weekend, I discovered that 'nscd' serializes DNS lookups. I turned
the process off, to make some parallel web log analysis scripts run
about 200 times faster.
All my other programs seem to be able to resolve host names with nscd
off (telnet, ftp, gethostbyaddr()). But Webinator now can't resolve
host names! It fails with:
Can't get address for host 'www.amd.com': Error 0
Can't get address for host 'www.amd.com': Error 0
Can't process URL (http://www.amd.com/)
Should I reinstall webinator? Help, I *REALLY* don't want to turn nscd
back on.
Thanks,
