sunos 5.7

Post by bogo0 »

the architecture of my machine is
SunOS mymachine.cs.utexas.edu 5.7
Generic_106541-09 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-2

I've installed webinator in
http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/moore/acl2/admin/cgi
which is a directory that can (and does) run cgi
scripts, despite not being the departmental
cgi root.

However, when i go to
http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/moore/ac ... tor/search
I get a 404 Not Found error.

(if I just put in texis without the webinator/search
after it, I get lots of gibberish.)

Is this an incompatibility problem with the
binary, or might it be something else?

I think there's something funny about your server's config. The issue is that the server does not think Texis is executable, so the "gibberish" is just the Texis file being downloaded. The 404 is only because its not actually running the program.

Ensure you have chmod-ed Texis to be executable.

Assuming you downloaded the "Solaris SPARC" version...
Depending on your webserver config you may need to rename texis to texis.cgi or some such.

ah, thanks!
Renaming texis to texis.cgi did the trick.
I've checked, and our department allows the
running of cgi scripts only if they have
the .cgi extension.
