spaces in querys

Post by jonn »

I have many words on my site, like for example,
go-between, go-by and go. When I do a search for 'go' go-between comes up first. I figure if I can include a space in the query to tell the search to find 'go ', and then modify my file go to have a space it will find it. How can I get the search to search for go with a space??? Is this possible? If not how do i make go come up first rather than go-between

Space is always a word separator. Within the text space and hyphen are treated equally as word separators. The "go" in go-between is no less "go" than the one in "go between". The ranker will favor words near the beginning of the document as well as query terms that are near each other. See the ranking factors in the search Options.

"go" by itself is not a very good query as it occurs often in english. You should combine it with another term. ie make a more specific query.
