Percentage Ranks using LIKEP

Post by zicchino »

I noticed on the search results for Thunderstone's support site, results are weighed using a percentage. How is this percentage calculated?

Is it calculated using the $rank field and dividing by 10? When I try that method, I rarely see anything higher than 75%, which leads me to believe that's not how this was done.

I can't find anything in any of the documentation that addresses percentages.

Thanks.

Dividing by 10 is generally the best way. The maximum rank you see will depend on how many terms you are searching for, and how well the documents match those terms.

The Webinator search script includes code to scale the result, since we require that all the search terms be present, so the first result is treated as a good result.
