That sounds like a network issue of some nature. Which version and release of gw are you running, and which platform is it running on?

I'm using the free version of webinator downloaded around march this year. The date of the gw.exe is 03/06/2001.
This installation is running on an NT System

There should be a program called geturl.exe in the same directory as gw.exe. Try that
geturl http://www.bircher.com
Are there any other messages? It would seem that the webserver is hanging up the connection before gw has a chance to ask for anything. Does a web browser on the same machine going to that site work?

When I start geturl.exe http://www.bircher.com I get the following error message:
000 connect: WSAECONNREFUSED - the attempt to connect was forcefully rejected in the function: ezclientsock
Can't connect(1) to www.bircher.com:80 : No error

thanks for any help

Looks like the server you're trying to walk won't let you. Talk to the administrator of that server.
