question on $700 commercial license

Post by giap »

I had downloaded the demo (free) version of webinator and would like to use it for our commercial site. I have some questions to make sure that it will work before I purchase the license.
1. Search results sort by date. Will I be able to add an option similar to the one on Master.com?
2. All of our files have metatag in the file "Last Modified date", can we use these date instead of the crawl date?
3. Can we have date range option in search?
4. Most of our pages is password protected, can we eliminate the "Match Info" option in the script?

We currently use Atomz service for our current search on our site: www.seyboldreports.com

Is it really $700 or do I have to buy other things?

Thanks,

The free and commercial versions are the same for the items you are asking about. The commercial version lifts the page limit and allows you to, optionally, purchase the pdf and wordprocessor plugin for an additional $600.

1. yes.
2. yes, that could be done with the scripted walker dowalk_beta.
3. yes.
4. yes. see some of the example search scripts on the webinator site.

Mark: Thanks for your reply.
I will take a look at dowalk-beta.
So, if I don't need the plug-in and don't go over 10,000 page, I don't need to buy the commercial versions. Is that correct?

Mostly. The machine where you're running Webinator must have direct access to the internet on port 80 so that it can contact the license server. And there's no phone support for the free version.
