Error installing

Post by Thunderstone »

I am trying to install webinator on an solaris x86 system via telnet.
When I run the ./install after answering the directory questions I get
the following error message:

Installing Webinator files
tar: /widb.tar: No such file or directory

Problem extracting tar file /widb.tar into /u6/catsclaw/virtual_html
.. Aborting installation ...

What might the problem be? FYI The file "widb.tar" does exist in the
directory I am running the installation from.

Error installing

The first thing the install script does is determine the directory you
were in when you ran it using the pwd command. This probably failed.
You should have seen some kind of error message when install started.
pwd should never fail, but perhaps you are in some kind of restricted
environment that doesn't allow it.

You can get it to install by making a small edit to the install
script to skip the "pwd" step. Change the line (line 5) reading:

inst=`pwd`

to something like:

inst=/tmp/download

where "/tmp/download" is the full path to the directory containing the
webinator installation files.
