How to suppress menus on results page

Post by Thunderstone »

I can suppress the menus for proximity and word forms on my initial
search page by using hidden fields with the values set that I want.

How can I suppress the menus on the search results page? I had thought
that elements that were declared as hidden in the initial form remained
hidden on the search results page, but this only applies to some of the
fields?

Not being able to get rid of the menus (which we feel would confuse our
users) could be a show stopper :-(

I've written some custom Perl scripts to do just that: display (my)
custom HTML page, accept the search parameters, call 'gw' with those
parameters, receive the results, parse them into HTML format and display
the page.

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my ISP to set up Webinator while
running as root, since you can't make it work under a user's account.

Webinator always puts out the stock search form at the top of result
sets with the settings from the current search. It has no way of knowing
what was hidden or not on the previous form.
You would have to write a custom Texis application to get that level
of control over the output.

Of course, anything CAN be done in this greate big universe. There is
currently no way to change the search form. We are looking at ways to
make the interface totally customizable, but there is no planned release
date yet for that.
