Access Control in Search Appliances Small Business Edition

Post by yuko0 »

We are using Small Business Edition of Thunderstone Search Appliances--and we need to control the user access. I read at http://www.thunderstone.com/texis/site/ ... 50425.html that Access Control setting is only for Enterprise search.

Is there any way to create Access Control in Small Business Edition?

The situation we want to solve:

1) We want a certain department to access a Query Log page only.

2) We do not want them to have administrator permissioni and make any changes.

Thank you for your support in advance!

There is not a way to create Access Control in the SBE editions of the Search Appliance, that is an enterprise feature. The two options with the SBE which may work for you are the ability to e-mail a CSV dump of the query log periodically if they can make use of that, or you would need someone with administrative privileges to extract the required information manually.

Thank you for your reply.

How can I do the CSV dump? Is that from the Administrator control panel somewhere? Can it be done periodically automatically?

If you would direct me to the answer, I would really appreciate it.

You can do the CSV dump manually from the query report page, or on search settings configure it to be emailed periodically automatically.

I see the setting. Is it possible to have the Rotate Schedule to be "Monthly" (and send email monthly)?

Sorry, no. It's weekly or daily. You'll have to accumulate a month's worth of reports for monthly stats.
