ThunderStone Problems

Post by devdutta »

Hi,
We have two Thunderstone installations in a replicated environment and are facing the following two problems:

1. ThunderStone provides a feature using which all the profile and system wide settings can be exported in an XML file by accessing the 'Maintenance' menu. If we enable the HTTPS restrictions to access the administration web UI, then export the XML and make any changes in it and after that try to import it back in Thunderstone, the system gets locked. After this point, HTTPS process on this (supposedly on port 443) doesn’t respond and if we try to login using HTTP, the system says that the user must login using HTTPS. The only solution in this case is to access the Thunderstone terminal and use the option 'A' drop admin restrictions.

2. Sometimes, the system is not able to create a profile which uses a name that was deleted in the past. Thus, even though the old deleted profile of the same name no longer exists, the system is not able to create the new profile. The references to this deleted profile exist if we export the system wide settings using the maintenance menu. This poses further problems since Thunderstone gives an error on the import of a XML which has invalid references to the deleted profiles.
See below for a snippet from the XML which has an invalid reference to a deleted profile. In the following case, the ‘VTHome’ profile has been deleted and no longer exists. Thunderstone is inserting some invalid XML code in the imported file which normally does not exist.

Open a tech support ticket (top menu) with these issues and we can come up with an update to fix them; thanks.
