Resetting DB and index

Post by Thunderstone »

I would like to automatically "reindex" the entire site by running a crontab.

Would the following sequence of commands in a batch file do the job?

/webinator/bin/gw -wipe -d-
/webinator/bin/gw -d- http://www.yourwebsite.com
/webinator/bin/gw -index -d-

Yes. But your search would not be very useful during the rewalk period.
Not a big problem on a small, low to medium access site.
On a large or frequently searched site. You might want to walk to a
new database then swap it for the live one when complete.

Go to http://www.thunderstone.com/texis/webinator/listproc/
and search for "rewalk" for details.

This look ok?

the "mv" should be in the "webinator" subdirectory because that is where
the "db" folder is, not the "webinator/bin/" subdirectory, no?

/webinator/bin/gw -dnew http://www.yoursite.com
/webinator/bin/gw -dnew -index
/webinator/mv db old
/webinator/mv new db

mv is a standard unix system command, not part of webinator.
Please don't ask questions about how to use unix here.

cd webinator
bin/gw -dnew http://www.yoursite.com
bin/gw -dnew -index
mv db old
mv new db
