I'm trying to install Webinator on a development server
(trying to determine if we'd like to use it on the
production server).
The installation appears to be hanging and there isn't much
feedback. I hope someone can provide some clues....
The machine: spider.lib.duke.edu
The OS is DEC Unix (uname -a yields
'OSF1 spider.lib.duke.edu V3.2 214 alpha')
The Web server is netscape enterprise server 2.0 on port
8080
The server only accepts http "GET" requests from machines
with domain names ending in '.lib.duke.edu'.
I wonder if any of the above will prevent a successful
install. (I did register on
<http://www.thunderstone.com/webinator/register.html>).
The Host operating system I downloaded was "DEC Alpha Unix".
After following the install instructions (running as root)
and typing ./install, I supply the full path for the
cgi-bin directory, the htdocs tree, and the web server
admin (nobody) and then receive the following two lines in
response:
Installing Webinator files
Webinator files installed
At this point nothing else happens. I did some
investigation with 'ps -ae | grep web' & 'ps -ae | grep
install' and receive the following lines respectively:
1282 ttyp3 I + 0:00.13 bin/geturl -q -q http://localhost webinator/wst
1279 ttyp3 I + 0:00.21 sh ./install
Any clues why this isn't working?
please note that part of process 1282 above has the phrase
'http://localhost'. This will, I assume, go to port 80
which is running a robot response saying something like
'this web server has moved to blah blah blah'. Shouldn't
process 1282 contain 'http://localhost:8080'. And if so,
how can I make it so.
Thanks for any help.
