Using webinator for other languages

Post by Thunderstone »

Hi,

I am testing out the free version of the webinator on a Solaris machine, and like it
very much. Before recommending to our development team to purchase the product, I
would like to know how difficult it would be to use this on a site that does not use
English as it's language. We are a French language site, and most of the content
uses the HTML &agrave type of tags to put accented chars on html pages. The search
now returns blank spaces where there should be accented chars, in the results page.
Is there a way to get around this? Also, how difficult, or are there any gotchas,
would it be to translate all of the interface to a different language? Has anybody
used this product in a different language? Any help is much appreciated, and thanx
in advance.

The Webinator is in use in several countries, indexing among others Dutch,
Swedish, Italian and Russian. The Webinator should display the accented
characters correctly. Can you give an example page where this does not
work?

We are looking at ways to make the interface totally customizable, but
there is no planned release date yet for that. I would suggest waiting
for that. Another alternative would be to purchase the T1000 Webinator,
which would allow you to design your own interface from scratch.
