Webinator Execution Problems

Post by Thunderstone »

Is Perl required to run Webinator on a SCO OpenServe V System?
I have Emailed you about the problem I am having before.
I installed Webinator per the instructions.
I installed the CGI executables in /usr/internet/ns_httpd/cgi-bin
directory. My document directory is /usr/internet/ns_httpd/docs.
I have checked to make sure that the path in the index.html file is
pointing to correct directory. However, whenever I try to search my
site at www.mysite.com/webinator I don't get a search form. I get a
screen that shows the Thunderstone Logo followed by "Perform A
Search". When I click on "Perform A Search" the same page is shown.
Thanks again for your help.

Webinator Execution Problems

No. Webinator is totally standalone and requires nothing but
a web server.

Apparently your cgi directory is not referenced by the url
http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin . Check your web server's configuration
for cgi programs. Make sure that webinator is in the specified directory
and the url you use to run it agrees with the alias configured into
the web server.

For example: If the cgi directory was "/usr/local/etc/httpd/cgi"
and the url prefix/alias was "/cgi" you would copy webinator to
directory /usr/local/etc/httpd/cgi and make sure it is executable by the
web server. Then you would access it with url
http://www.yoursite.com/cgi/webinator .
