Webinator on BSDI

Post by Thunderstone »

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Hello,

I've gotten Webinator to work on my Solaris 2.5 OS running Netscape 2.01
server, but when I try to use Webinator on my BSD 2.1 server with Apache
web server I get the following...

Webinator is incorrectly installed!

Please contact the owners of this site and inform them.

/homes/www014/fcw/html/webinator/db/SYSOBJECTS.tbl is missing

The SYSOBJECTS.tbl file is actually there, and all the file attributes are
set correctly. Do you have any idea what I might be overlooking?

Thanks,

John

Is the webinator cgi program running setuid to the owner of the database?
If not, it may not have perms to descend one of the subdirectories
or to read the files.

The webinator executable should be owned by the database owner and have the
setuid bit set. The output of "ls -l webinator" should look similar to:
-rwsrwxr-x 1 john other
If it's like this (no 's'):
-rwxrwxr-x 1 john other
You need to run:
chmod u+s webinator
