Hi

I've used the free version on Linux and now have the Commercial version
for NT4.0. It works fine (I think) but I'm getting a message I haven't
seen before - I've pasted an extract below

1997/01/21 15:40:56 Retrieving
http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/handb ... ppans.html
1997/01/21 15:40:57 Retrieving
http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/handb ... anels.html
1997/01/21 15:40:57 End (228) Visited 63 pages total - Will re-exec
1997/01/21 15:40:59 Begin (168) re-gw.exe -r -w0 -dtemp
-jhttp://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/
1997/01/21 15:40:59 Begin (245) gw.exe -dtemp -index
1997/01/21 15:41:00 Retrieving http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/
1997/01/21 15:41:00 Retrieving
http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/handbook/authoring/
1997/01/21 15:41:03 End (168) Visited 2 pages total - Will re-exec
1997/01/21 15:41:05 Begin (214) re-gw.exe -r -w0 -dtemp
-jhttp://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/
1997/01/21 15:41:06 Retrieving
http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/handb ... gintro.htm
1997/01/21 15:41:07 End (214) Visited 1 pages total - Will re-exec
1997/01/21 15:41:08 Begin (114) re-gw.exe -r -w0 -dtemp
-jhttp://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/
1997/01/21 15:41:09 Retrieving
http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/handb ... /links.htm
1997/01/21 15:41:09 End (114) Visited 1 pages total - Will re-exec

What's it up to? Shouldn't it just walk then index?? Below is the
batch file used to start / update the walk on a regular basis

echo off
echo ****** Changing to Database directory ******
cd C:\Netscape\Server\docs\webinator\bin\
echo ****** Creating Temporary Database ******
gw.exe -r -w0 -dtemp -jhttp://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/
http://web1.canadalife.co.uk/help/index.htm
echo ****** Indexing Temporary Database ******
gw.exe -dtemp -index
echo ****** Removing Old Database ******
cd c:\Netscape\Server\docs\webinator\bin\help
del /Q *.*
cd c:\Netscape\Server\docs\webinator\bin\
rmdir help
echo ****** Renaming Temporary Database to Proper Database Name ******
rename temp help
echo Done

Thanks

[Fwd: re-indexing on NT4 (will re-exec)]

..

I assume you are referring to the "re-exec" messages.
You are probably low on memory. Under NT gw will re exec itself
if free memory gets too low so that it doesn't eat up all memory.
You should run fewer programs other than gw to prevent this.
Or just let it go. Its not harmful, just a bit slower.
