Controlling document abstract

Post by Thunderstone »

Hi Webinator List,

Is there any way to control the document abstract displayed in a search
results page?

I have some HTML documents that are like "Table of Contents" pages.
They are
a bunch of links basically with a footer on the bottom:

Title
- link1
- link2
- link3
- link4
Standard footer

The new improved abstract generator in Webinator 1.3 is listing the
"Standard footer" part, instead of any of the text in the links above
it.

Is there any way to "turn off" the smarter abstract generator, so it
just lists text from the top, instead of trying to skip over "junk"?

Thanks,

-Kevin

Yes. A quick search of the tech support message archive
(http://index.thunderstone.com/texis/webinator/listproc/) reveals:

..
This feature may be selectively enable/disabled via a hidden form variable:

<input type=hidden name="abs" value="1"> Smart abstract

<input type=hidden name="abs" value="0"> Less smart abstract
